Drupal

An open source content management system based on PHP, Drupal has one of the largest communities of developers, and testers of any open source CMS available. Based on an extensible PAC architecture, Drupal allows programmers and end users the flexibility to interrupt any process asynchronously.

The flexibility of Drupal has made it one of the top CMSs available, free or paid. The system has a modular structure that separates the core functionality, from theming (styling usually done in CSS and html), and contributed functionality. Yet as mentioned before, a programmer or end user can perform CRUD operations on any part of drupal (with the right permission, of course) at any time. So a Drupal site can be anything a person can imagine: a blog, e-commerce store (with mobile compatibility), company site, a library of content, a wiki, etc.

What really separates Drupal from the pack is the support, and the quality and number of contributed modules available. Drupal has fully documented api, over 6,000 and counting contributed modules, unit testing system, and a team of dedicated and funded programmers there to help answer another developer or end user’s question. Unlike most open source systems, Drupal has been funded by companies like Google, Yahoo, and even Microsoft in the hopes that more end user websites will be as rich and efficient as Drupal sites.
